The cave’s spacious chambers are adorned with stunning formations of stalactites and stalagmites, as well as rare helictites (also known as eliktites), which twist and turn in irregular, spiral patterns, seemingly defying gravity. The cave covers an area of more than 25,000 square meters and stretches for about 3 kilometers in total, with 1 kilometer open to the public. The guided tour lasts about one hour and begins in a large vestibule, 8 meters high.
According to ancient Greek mythology, the area around the cave is associated with Hades and Persephone, as it was believed to be the entrance to the Underworld.
